Boilerplate pack
The boilerplate pack is a copyable starter pack that demonstrates every pack
feature in one place: two new agents, two skills, a shared pack:* partial, and a pack-only instruction file that is
auto-wired per target. Use it as the starting point for your own pack, or as a reference while reading the
pack author guide.
Unlike the acme example, which is a test fixture, this pack lives under examples/ and is safe to copy
and edit. packages/packs/tests/boilerplate.test.ts loads it through the pack reader, so it stays valid.
Contents
The pack README lists every file with what it demonstrates.
The two agents each place a vsuite:* partial and the pack partial. The skills read template-context variables
(pack.id, pack.version, target.id, and project.stack). The instruction has no front matter and is rendered for
every target.
The manifest sets an optional description — a one-line summary shown in the UI and sent to the AI assistant — and
each agent’s front matter adds whenToUse, decision-oriented prose for the AI assistant that falls back to
description when omitted.
Validate and use it
Validate without a project:
vsuite pack validate examples/boilerplate-pack --strictThen copy the folder into a project, point a path: pack source at it, and generate:
vsuite pack add path:./.vsuite/packs/boilerplate --name boilerplate
vsuite agent use api-designer --from boilerplate
vsuite agent use release-manager --from boilerplate
vsuite generateSee the pack README for the vsuite.json equivalent, the per-target
output list, and the preconfigured Liquid setup. For the rules behind each file see the
pack author guide and the template context reference.
